This was a recent fun project that channeled the inner child in me. I had allot of fun doing it!
Marsha is hosting a baby shower for her daughter, and wanted me to make a dress for a Mannequin that stood 21 inches tall. The Mannequin's dress was to mirror the dress on the invitations that she sent out and to serve as a centerpiece for her table at the shower.

Charlene
Charlene just moved into her home this year, and very much like myself wanted everything done ASAP. She is a friend of mine from work, and we had a ball shopping for fabrics and rods. Her home has allot of light walls, so darker fabrics and furniture blended well.
This is her dining room with a finished 66 inch cafe' curtain. She chose a black poly blend for the backing, and a sheer gold print as an overlay.

This picture was taken in her living area, the silk panels are 66 inch's in length. They have the Rufflette Goblet gather and a white lining.
We chose a silk black material with gold Fleur De Le embroidered designs for her kitchen valances, (She is from Louisiana, so how appropriate to honor her team "The Saints"). each valance had beads that hung from the bottom to give it a more formal appearance.

Jenny
It's always rewarding to work with friends, and be able to share in their happiness of what you have done for them. Jenny found some trendy cotton fabric that has french writing on it, almost reminds me of the rough blend that you might see in an old flour sack, but this is smooth and soft. The curtains blend very well with her style of decorating! I made four panels for her cafe curtains, no backing was needed because of the weight of the material and the fact that she wanted to hang them mostly above the window.
Carmen
My curtain endeavors did not start as a business, it started just from helping my girlfriends out with decorating their homes. Carmen's house was my first paid job, and a long time friend of our family. She asked me to help her do her living and dining rooms in keeping with her colors of mauve, dusty blue and sage. Her carpet right now is grey and the fireplace has a grey mix as well, so I was very limited on choosing fabric choices.
I am sorry to say that I did not do a before picture, but I can tell you that she used to have a light mauve plastic blind that hung lengthwise. We replaced that with Faux wood blinds that matched her woodwork in her kitchen/living space. (Thanks Ed and Dad for the hanging help)!
The panels have a cream colored lining to match her
sheers. I used a Goblet Rufflet topper to give them
a pretty shape. I believe that these panels were about 96 inches long.
Trying to find a country blue in the fabric stores is just about next to impossible right now, not too many people are using this color. What I opted for was a very fine silk. The silk has a floral print that you can barely see, and is sewn to a cream backing to give it some weight. I also chose a brown pipping to help it blend into the panels.
When Bryan and I went back last week to take photos, Carmen asked about more updates. Painting and some rearranging will probably be next
for her!

Cindy
Cindy wanted to redo her bathroom, since these photo's were taken she has painted and changed her accessories around. She asked for a cafe curtain that would still let in the light that she loved from this window. We shopped and found a nice cinched silk that caught her eye with a cotton leopard print for the top. I was not happy with just that when I finished, so I put a gathered black silk ruffle over the print and added some small gold beads to help blend it in. Cindy also chose some pretty beads to add to the trip of the leopard print.
Julie #2
You can find great things at Garage Sales! Julie found a bolt of this silk material for a steel. It had plenty of fabric to do two 10 foot long panels that just about touch the ceiling. The top of the panels have a pleat that is difficult to see in these photos, but I sewed them down about 10 inches from the top. The middle material is a sheer crinkled light blue, as you can see the curtain looks great opened or closed.
Julie
Julie chose a silk black material with gold embroidered dots as the body and went with a little heavier material for the drape of the cafe curtain. The backs of all my curtain's will most always have a white liner so there is not too much color showing from the outside of the home.
My shower curtain
My home has 8 foot ceilings, so I like to make them look taller when I can, and I also like the look of a double hung shower curtain. This one has two pressure rods, the bottom holds the Toile drape, and the top holds the valance. The valance is made of black burlap, with a little turquoise velvet to kick it up a little. I like the look, it reminds me of the shabby chic designs.
